Your wedding photos are one of the most important keepsakes from your special day, and finding the perfect location to capture those memories is key. If you're hosting your wedding in Kansas City, you’re in luck—this vibrant city is filled with iconic spots that can make your photos truly unforgettable. We’ve put together a list of 7 locations in KC to take magical wedding photos.

  • The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art

There is a reason so many choose to have their wedding photos taken at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art - It’s always perfect. Not only is it expertly curated, you can count on it to always be meticulously maintained. You can choose the original museum building as a classic backdrop or for something more modern, the Bloch Building. For something really romantic, we can’t recommend the garden enough. Sprawling trees, winding trails, and world-renowned art at your disposal. Note: Photographers must sign-in with the Museum prior to a photography session.

  • West Bottoms

Once Kansas City's thriving warehouse district, the area is now filled with rustic brick buildings, vintage warehouses, and cobblestone streets that add a raw, industrial aesthetic to your wedding shots. West Bottoms is perfect for couples looking to capture something a bit more unconventional. Plenty of vibrant murals, weathered buildings, and definitely check out one of the coolest photo features of the West Bottoms - the 12th Street Bridge.

  • WW1/Liberty Memorial

For couples seeking a dramatic and historic backdrop, the Liberty Memorial at the National WWI Museum is a great choice. The towering monument and sweeping staircases lend themselves to grand, cinematic shots. This is also where you’ll find one of the best views of the city, as this is where people come to view a stunning panorama of the skyline. Definitely an iconic spot.

  • Loose Park

For couples dreaming of a nature-filled setting, Loose Park is one of Kansas City’s most beloved green spaces.

75 acres of lush greenery, with a rose garden, a picturesque pond, and tree-lined walkways - Loose Park offers a serene and classic backdrop for wedding photography. Note that a permit is required for wedding photography at this iconic park.

  • The Plaza

The Country Club Plaza, with its Spanish-inspired architecture and stunning fountains, is Kansas City’s most iconic shopping district. Here you’ll have the backdrop of beautiful tile work, ornate sculptures, charming courtyards, and if timing lines up - the iconic Plaza Lights! The variety of textures and rich colors in the buildings make it a versatile location, ideal for both day and evening shots. We especially love the Valencia Staircase on 47th Street.

  • The Kauffman Center

The Kauffman Center’s iconic design is perfect for couples who want their wedding photos to feel grand and stylish. The building’s striking exterior is composed of glass and steel, reflecting the sky and cityscape, making it a unique location for dramatic, high-impact images

  • Downtown KC Library Rooftop Chess

This is a fun one. The Rooftop Terrace of the Kansas City Public Library offers something truly unique: A giant chess board in the heart of Downtown. The contrast between the black-and-white chess tiles, oversize chess pieces, and the surrounding cityscape creates a striking visual, ideal for both candid and posed shots. This rooftop location is perfect for couples looking to capture something fun, modern, and a little unexpected
